Writing

In writing this year we will write narrative, informational, and opinion pieces. The units we will write are below:

  • Small Moments: Writing personal stories
  • Nonfiction Chapter Books: Writing about something they know a lot about
  • Writing Reviews: Writing an opinion through a review
  • Writing Fictional Stories: Writing stories that are realistic fiction

Math

In math this year we will:

  • Represent and solve problems involving addition and subtraction (word problems)
  • Understand and apply properties of operations and the relationship between addition and subtraction
  • Add and subtract within 20
  • Work with addition and subtraction equations
  • Extend the counting sequence (count to 120)
  • Understand place value (tens and ones)
  • Use place value understanding and properties of operations to add and subtract (add within 100)
  • Measure lengths indirectly and by iterating length units
  • Tell and write time
  • Represent and interpret data
  • Reason with shapes and their attributes (2D and 3D shapes, fractions)
