Homework

Assignments will be written in the Assignment Notebook. Typically, we will have the following homework:

Read 20 minutes each night and complete the Weekly Reading Log (due Fridays)

Math Activity (due Fridays)

Spelling Tic Tac Toe Sheet (Due Friday)

Reading: We are working on becoming even more proficient readers! We would like students to read for 20 minutes at least 5 nights per week. Please remind your child to fill out their reading log.

Writing: We will be doing Writer's Workshop this year in 2nd grade. Most of our writing occurs at school. We will explore many types of writing this year. Please ask your child about what they are writing, and encourage writing ideas.

Math: Students will have a math choice to complete each week. It is due on Friday. 

Spelling: Students will have a weekly list of words to study. Each list works on a specific spelling pattern. Students may practice the weekly lists at http://www.spellingcity.com. When you get to the site, click on "Find A List" located on the blue toolbar. Search "shepard second" and you will find our list.

Science: Science is very hands on. We will work most often in teams during science to investigate, explore, and discover! Typically we do not have homework, but it would be wonderful to ask your child what they are discovering!

Social Studies: We will be learning about the past and present, culture, and communities as part of our social studies this year. Typically all work is completed in class, but again, please ask your child what they are learning!
