The Oak Creek-Franklin Joint School District is proud to announce Cedar Hills Elementary has been named a 2019 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. Cedar Hills is one of eight schools in the state and 362 in the nation to earn this prestigious recognition.
Presented annually by the U.S. Department of Education, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes schools across the country for demonstrating overall academic excellence or making substantial progress in closing student achievement gaps.
Cedar Hills earned this award as an Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing School. "We celebrate diversity at Cedar Hills," Principal Keith Ruffolo shared. "We live and breathe our school vision statement, You Belong Here, which reflects the care and compassion for students and families and has set a strong foundation for learning," Ruffolo continued.
Cedar Hills achieved a perfect score in closing achievement gaps in English Language Arts and a nearly perfect score in mathematics on their school report card released by the Department of Public Instruction. "Our entire staff is extremely dedicated to meeting students where they are at and providing the proper supports to move them forward in their learning," said Ruffolo.
"It fills all of us here in Oak Creek/Franklin with immense pride to have Cedar Hills Elementary earn this extremely high honor," said Dan Unertl, superintendent of the Oak Creek-Franklin Joint School District. "This national recognition is a true testament to the dedication of our hardworking faculty and staff, the outstanding leadership of Principal Ruffolo, our supportive families, dedicated School Board, exceptional community, and our amazing students."
The U.S. Department of Education will honor all 2019 National Blue Ribbon Schools at an awards ceremony on November 14 and 15 in Washington, D.C.
