On Thursday, Oct. 7, the Oak Creek Performing Arts and Education Center (OCPAEC) was officially open, welcoming Oak Creek-Franklin School District staff, students and community members inside, many for the first time.

In 2018, the Oak Creek community supported a referendum making the OCPAEC a reality. This 1,000 seat, multi-purpose facility, serves the Oak Creek-Franklin Joint School District and the surrounding communities by showcasing student performances, offering educational opportunities, providing rental options and spotlighting world-renowned entertainment.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony kicked off with a special musical performance by 7th Minors, an Oak Creek High School jazz group, followed by welcome addresses from Lyn Hulgan, the Director of the OCPAEC, OCFSD Superintendent Dan Unertl and OCFSD School Board President Frank Carini.

“For many of you here today, this moment has been a very long time in coming,” President Carini told the crowd. “Thank you for your steadfast belief in our school and our mission. This building would not be a reality if it weren’t for the support of our community.”

“As you’ve heard first-hand here today, we have incredibly talented students in our District...from 8 to 18 years old…and now we have a place where they can showcase that talent community-wide,” added Superintendent Unertl.
