Chromebook Insurance

2024-25  Student Chromebook Insurance Policy 

The Oak Creek-Franklin Joint School District is offering an optional insurance plan to cover the cost of repairs/damage to Chromebooks issued to students in grades 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12,  and 5th grade students who take their devices home with them through the District’s 1:1 Student Learning Initiative. Families who purchase this insurance will have the Chromebook repaired/replaced at no additional cost should damage occur to the Chromebook during the student’s use. This insurance covers accidental damage up to $275.00 but does NOT include intentional damage.

 

Types of damage may include but are not limited to the following:

*Insurance does NOT cover lost items or intentional damage

Equipment Defects	Beyond Normal “Wear & Tear”	Intentional
Power failure System board failure Keyboard failures   *Failures of this nature are usually covered under the manufacturer’s warranty.  Should it be determined that the cause of these issues are due to dropping or other abuse, the manufacturer may not cover the repair.	Liquid spills Smoke damage Fire or flood damage Cracked screen Damaged power adapter Lost stylus (some models) Lost or removed keys   *Damages considered to be beyond normal “wear and tear” are covered up to $275.00.	Intentional damage of any kind Graffiti of any kind Internal damage caused by chassis intrusion Throwing, dropping, scratching Slamming the screen/lid   *Intentional damages are not covered.

 

The cost of the insurance is $30.00 per year. Families that select to purchase this insurance must do so by 9/30/2024.

Electronic payments may be made online. To make an electronic payment, log into:  Infinite Campus Portal --> Fees. Click the “Device Insurance” button located on the Fees page. Parents may also remit payment (check or cash) and the bottom portion of the letter to the school office.  

Families that opt out from purchasing this insurance will be charged for any/all damage to the laptop using the fee schedule below:
