Oak Creek High School's robotics team is honored to win the highest award at a FIRST Robotics competition. This past weekend we competed in North Dakota at our first regional event of the season. Our students have been working toward this goal for the entirety of the five years that the team has been established. The award has qualified us to participate at the FRC Championship Competition in Detroit, Michigan with both our robot and with our team business presentation.

"The Chairman's Award is the most prestigious award at FIRST, it honors the team that best represents a model for other teams to emulate and best embodies the mission of FIRST. It was created to keep the central focus of FIRST Robotics Competition on the ultimate goal of transforming the culture in ways that will inspire greater levels of respect and honor for science and technology, as well as encouraging more of today's youth to become science and technology leaders.

The concept of the Chairman's Award enables FIRST to recognize teams for their exemplary efforts in spreading the FIRST message... The teams who have earned the Regional and District Championship Chairman's Award can travel to the FIRST Championship to be considered for the Chairman's Award." – FIRST Official Website

All of our students have had a hand in bringing this achievement home to our school and to our community. Each of our members have worked hard to build our competition robot, create and mentor younger FLL and FLL JR. teams, construct a farming robot that donates fresh produce to people in need, establish a STEAM Fair that allows other students to research areas of interest, build three additional robots to learn more hands on skills, organize a muliti-state sponsorship network, promote safety efforts in our community, encourage young ladies to join STEM related field, and write a continuing plan for sustainability.

Our students have gone above and beyond to not only improve themselves, but to build up the world around them to make it a better place for the next generation. We are humbled by this award and we are proud of each of our team members for working together to make this dream a reality.

We would like to extend a special thank you to our sponsors, without whom our journey would not have been possible. Our sincerest gratitude goes to PPG Industries, Rockwell Automation, Zünd America, Rexnord, Yaskawa, Nucor, Milwaukee Tools, AirLogic, PMMI, Everbright, MasterLock, GRUNAU, The Oak Creek Lions, and NASA. We would also like to thank the Oak Creek Franklin School District and School Board members, the City of Oak Creek, and all of our mentors.

Amazingly, our season is still just beginning. This week we will begin our preparation for the Wisconsin Regional in Milwaukee, which takes place March 19-21. We are also starting our fund-raising efforts for our trip to the FRC Championship Competition in Detroit, which will be held April 29 – May 2.

As we continue on, we would like to remind everyone in our community that our doors are always open to those who would like to come visit and see us working or to lend a hand in any way. Round Table Robotics is proud of the community in Oak Creek and we feel privileged to continue our work to promote and improve STEM opportunities to make our home brighter for the future.
