The Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB) Business Honor Roll recognizes outstanding local businesses that support their schools. Congratulations to the following businesses for being recognized as recipients of the WASB Honor Roll. Thank you for supporting our vision of Building Successful Futures TOGETHER!
Boldt Company – The Boldt Company is a strong supporter of the Knight Construction program, recently partnering to complete the Oak Creek High School Stadium Renovation Project. Students worked with Boldt to enhance the main entrance to the stadium and build a new multi-use building, providing much-needed storage and team meeting space for high school athletic teams, clubs, and youth programs. Throughout the project, students worked directly with the Boldt construction crew, gaining hands-on commercial construction experience and working alongside trade professionals to learn a broad range of skills, from pouring concrete to electrical work. Students developed technical skills such as masonry, carpentry, plumbing, and roofing, in addition to important life skills like teamwork and problem-solving. Many of the students walked away from this experience with full-time positions with Boldt after graduation. The construction students who were part of this unique project built more than just structures—they laid the groundwork for promising careers.
The Ridge Community Church – The Ridge Community Church’s unwavering commitment to supporting our local schools and students is truly remarkable. Through a partnership with Operation Warm, The Ridge generously provided over three hundred winter coats to five Oak Creek-Franklin public schools, ensuring that students stay warm and comfortable during the winter months. The Ridge also generously donated five hundred pairs of shoes to our elementary students in need, a contribution made possible through their collaboration with the Milwaukee Bucks and Nike. Beyond these incredible contributions, The Ridge Community Church has played a vital role in enhancing and improving the staff lounges and other areas at West Middle School and Cedar Hills Elementary. Their involvement and generous support exemplify their deep commitment to fostering a nurturing and supportive community for our children.
Educators Credit Union – Educators Credit Union continues to be a great resource for Oak Creek High School’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) department. In addition to participating in the annual interview summit and assisting with events for the OCHS Chapters FLBA and DECA., Educators Credit Union sponsors an annual event called Financial Reality Day. This event provides juniors with a hands-on simulation for students to learn the importance of budgeting and financial planning. Students are given a fictitious career and salary and tasked with managing their money to support their made-up lives, including how to pay for things like groceries, daycare, and utilities. Educators Credit Union also partners with Oak Creek High School to provide students with work-based learning opportunities through the Youth Apprenticeship program.
Chick-fil-A – Supporting PBIS initiatives through the use of Chicken Tickets, they help us reward students for demonstrating positive behavior and embodying the Knights’ Code with the chance to earn Chick-fil-A gift cards. This initiative incentivizes students to adhere to the Knights’ Code and helps create a positive and fun school environment. Chick-fil-A has generously contributed to our Staff Appreciation Days through donations, demonstrating their appreciation for the hard work of our educators. In addition to being an active participant at the OCHS Career Expo, several representatives from the Oak Creek Drexel Town Square restaurant have served as guest speakers in many business and alternative education classes. Freedom, one of the Chick-fil-A mascots, brought smiles to the faces of our littlest Knights during our 4K & 5K Enrollment Fair. Chick-fil-A’s dedication to employing OCHS students further exemplifies their commitment to our school district.
South Suburban Chamber of Commerce – The South Suburban Chamber of Commerce (SSCC) has been a proud supporter of the Oak Creek-Franklin Joint School District for a number of years. This year, SSCC honored Oak Creek High School’s Technical Education Teacher, Matt Lonergan, as the inaugural recipient of the “Educator of the Year” award. This prestigious accolade celebrates his outstanding contributions to education and the community. The Chamber also awarded a $1,500 scholarship to a deserving Oak Creek High School graduate, further investing in the future of our students. Through a diverse range of initiatives—ranging from participating in the interview summit to providing apprenticeship opportunities and more—the SSCC and its members continue to exemplify the spirit of community and collaboration.
