On May 7, 2026, at the Bucyrus Club in South Milwaukee, the Oak Creek-Franklin Joint School District celebrated the recipients of the 2026 Accolades Awards.

Launched in 2025, the Accolades was created to formally recognize and celebrate staff and community members who go above and beyond to demonstrate the District’s mission, “Working together to engage, challenge, and inspire every student every day.” Staff members are invited to nominate their colleagues who exemplify this commitment. This year, the District received more than 90 nominations. 

The evening began with a special performance by the Oak Creek High School Jazz band. Throughout the evening, district and school administrators shared heartfelt remarks about each honoree, highlighting the unique contributions they make to their school community. 

Each award recipient also received a special plaque created by Oak Creek High School woods students. 

At the conclusion of the event, Superintendent Thielen reflected on the importance of the evening and the lasting impact OCFSD staff have on their students, families, and colleagues. 

“Tonight, we’ve celebrated excellence—but more importantly, we’ve celebrated impact. Every teacher in this room shapes lives in ways that go far beyond the classroom. To our award recipients, thank you for modeling what’s possible. And to all educators here, thank you for the countless moments—seen and unseen—that make a difference every single day. We are better because of you.”
