Oak Creek-Franklin Joint School District
District to Host Community Engagement Sessions

Dear Oak Creek-Franklin,

As we begin to wrap up the 2023-24 school year, I have some important information to share regarding the future of our swimming pool. At the May 20 School Board Meeting, our Board of Education approved a motion to pursue community feedback on Pool Option 1 - to build a competition pool and community pool to serve the Oak Creek-Franklin community. The next step in the planning process will be gathering community input over the next few months to guide the Board's final decision for a November referendum.

What will the proposed option address?

The swimming pool is original to the high school (built in 1962) and has surpassed its life expectancy. Given its current condition, it will need to be replaced soon to address these priorities:

  • Safety and security (including an enclosed connection between the 10-12 Grade Building & Ninth Grade Center)

  • Place of opportunity and accessibility to all demographics

  • Expanded community use of the pool and community activity room for programming (with access during school and after hours)

  • Separation between warm water pool and competition pool for security and privacy

  • Improve health & fitness for the community with increased aquatics access

  • Separate entrance and dedicated parking for this community facility

  • Separate locker rooms and family changing areas for the community
